German Jazz Prize 2024

On April 18, 2024, the German Jazz Prize was presented for the first time in Cologne!

At an electrifying award show featuring great live acts, the 22 winners of the German Jazz Prize 2024 were announced for the first time, accompanied by live performances from Angelika Niescier in a duo with Alexander Hawkins, the Omer Klein Trio, and jazz legend Kenny Barron, and hosted by Hadnet Tesfai and Götz Bühler.

The fourth edition of the German Jazz Prize concludes with a special event during Cologne Jazzweek. In collaboration with the previous winner in the category “Festival of the Year”, the German Jazz Prize will present five concerts on September 6, 2024, at the WDR Funkhaus, Stadtgarten, and Loft featuring: 

– Jakob Bänsch Quartett & Ella Zirina

– Frank Gratkowski mit In Cahoots feat. Ingrid Laubrock  

– Immanuel Wilkins Quartet  

– Lesley Mok – The Living Collection 

– Schlippenbach & Walsdorff Quartett

Since 2021, the German Jazz Prize has been honoring outstanding artistic achievements in the national and international jazz scenes. It is developed and produced by the Initiative Musik with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The fourth edition is taking place in cooperation with the city of Cologne and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
