Die in Berlin lebende karibisch-amerikanische Songwriterin und Produzentin Sera Kalo ist auf über 23 Alben, die in Deutschland und Asien produziert wurden, vertreten. Nach ihrem ersten aufgenommenen Projekt Seraleez im Jahr 2016 erhielt ihre Arbeit zahlreiche Anerkennungen, darunter eine Nominierung für den Listen to Berlin Publikumspreis 2020 sowie für den Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2023 für ihr Solo-Debütalbum eXante. Ihr aktuelles Projekt eX.II hat mit seiner einzigartigen Mischung aus freier Improvisation, Poesie, Jazz und Groove internationale Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Dadurch wurde Sera als musikalischer Beitrag für das Soundwalk-Erlebnis der Wassily-Kandinsky-Ausstellung 2024 im H’art Museum Amsterdam, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Centre Pompidou Paris, ausgewählt. Zudem erhielt Sera den Female Producer’s Prize 2024*, der von Music Women Germany und Sony Music Germany vergeben wird, sowie den Listen to Berlin Award for Innovation in the Music Industry für ihr Musik- und Community-Projekt Diasporic Arts Alliance. Als genreübergreifende Künstlerin verbindet Sera in ihrer Musik Jazz-Einflüsse mit verschiedenen Stilrichtungen und hinterfragt dabei traditionelle Genregrenzen.

Berlin-based Caribbean-American songwriter and producer, Sera Kalo has appeared on over 23 albums produced in Germany and Asia. Following her first recorded project Seraleez in 2016, her work has earned nominations for the 2020 Listen to Berlin Publikumpreis and the 2023 German Record Critics’ Award for her debut solo album, eXante. Her latest project eX.II has gained international attention with its unique blend of free improv, poetry, jazz and groove earning Sera a musical feature at the soundwalk experience of the 2024 Wassily Kandinsky exhibition at H’art Museum Amsterdam, in collaboration with Centre Pompidou Paris. Sera also received the 2024 Female* Producer’s Prize, sponsored by Music Women Germany and Sony Music Germany, and the Listen to Berlin Award for Innovation in the Music Industry for her music & community project, Diasporic Arts Alliance. As a genre-fluid artist, Sera’s music often combines her jazz influences across various styles challenging the notion of genre.
