Das Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra wurde 2006 gegründet und gilt als eines der unverkennbarsten Großensembles: „kein anderes Ensemble der Welt klingt wie sie“ (Süddeutsche Zeitung).

Nach vier gefeierten Alben, weit über 200 Konzerten in 25 Ländern auf vier Kontinenten, ist es derzeit eine zehn- bis zwölfköpfige Gruppe, die sich flexibel zu einem größeren Ensemble erweitern kann.

Es spielt vorwiegend Kompositionen des Gründers Daniel Glatzel, welche stets musikalische Grenzen überwinden und erweitern. AMEO schöpft aus einem bunten Spektrum von Jazz, Klassik, Avantgarde, traditionellen Musikstilen, Independent und Electronica – „Some of the most detailed jazz-writing you’re likely to find“ (BBC Radio).

Es gab Konzerte u.a. in den großen Sälen der Berliner, Kölner und Elbphilharmonie, beim Roskilde Festival, uvm. 2021 war es der erste Preisträger des Deutschen Jazzpreises für große Ensembles überhaupt. 2024 wurde es erneut als „Ensemble des Jahres“ nominiert.

The Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra was founded in 2006 and is considered one of the most distinctive large ensembles: “No other ensemble in the world sounds like them” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).

After four acclaimed albums and well over 200 concerts in 25 countries across four continents, the ensemble currently consists of 10 to 12 musicians, with the flexibility to expand into a larger group.

The orchestra primarily performs compositions by its founder, Daniel Glatzel, which constantly push and transcend musical boundaries. AMEO draws from a diverse spectrum of jazz, classical, avant-garde, traditional music styles, independent music, and electronica – “Some of the most detailed jazz-writing you’re likely to find” (BBC Radio).

The ensemble has performed in major concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Cologne Philharmonic, and the Elbphilharmonie, as well as at festivals like Roskilde Festival, among many others. In 2021, AMEO became the first-ever recipient of the German Jazz Prize for large ensembles. In 2024, it was once again nominated as “Ensemble of the Year.”
