Many Winners at the Sold-Out E-Werk Cologne

This Thursday evening, Cologne was all about jazz: During a festive live show at the sold-out E-Werk, the German Jazz Prize was presented for the fourth time, honoring exceptional artistic, and innovative achievements in 22 categories. The evening’s highlights included energetic live performances by Angelika Niescier & Alexander Hawkins, the Omer Klein Trio, and Kenny Barron, as well as the charming hosts Hadnet Tesfai and Götz Bühler.  You can find an overview of the 22 prize winners here.

The fourth edition of the German Jazz Prize concludes with a special event during Cologne Jazzweek. In collaboration with the previous winner in the category “Festival of the Year”, the German Jazz Prize will present five concerts on September 6, 2024, at the WDR Funkhaus, Stadtgarten, and Loft featuring: 

Frank Gratkowski (nominated in the category „Woodwinds“) with In Cahoots feat. Ingrid Laubrock  

Immanuel Wilkins Quartet (winner „Live Act of the Year International“) 

Jakob Bänsch (winner „Debut Album of the Year“) 

Lesley Mok (winner „Debut Album of the Year International“) 

Alexander von Schlippenbach (winner „Lifetime Achievement“ and “Piano/Keyboard Instruments”)
