This was the German Jazz Prize!
Both the national and international jazz scenes were honored on April 27th, 2023 with an exceptional award ceremony: The German Jazz Prize was given out in 31 categories for outstanding artistic achievements over the past year. The announcement of the award winners, acceptance speeches, the tributes and live musical performances by various nominees were followed by an electrifying concert evening with over 800 visitors in the sold-out Metropol Theatre Bremen.
At the beginning of the year, the expert jury selected the nominees in the award categories from over 1,000 entries. The main jury then decided which of the nominees received the German Jazz Prize on April 27. Among others, Sanni Est was awarded “Artist:in of the Year” and Moor Mother “Artist:in of the Year International”. The Insomnia Brass Band received the award “Band of the Year” and the James Brandon Lewis Quartet as “Band of the Year International”.
