Die Komponistin, Sängerin und bildende Künstlerin Cécile McLorin Salvant ist leidenschaftlich daran interessiert, Geschichten zu erzählen und Verbindungen zwischen Vaudeville, Blues, Folk-Traditionen, Theater, Jazz und Barockmusik zu erforschen. Nduduzo Makhathini ist ein südafrikanischer Improvisationskünstler und Wissenschaftler mit einem Doktortitel in Musik. Kürzlich kehrte er von einer langen Tournee seines neuesten Projekts „uNomkhubulwane“ durch die USA, Südamerika und Europa zurück, die unter anderem sein Debüt in der legendären Carnegie Hall in New York und in der Kölner Philharmonie umfasste.

Nduduzo Makhathini is a South African improvisor and scholar with a PhD in music. He is also a multi award winning artist and internationally acclaimed musician. Makhathini holds 12 albums under his belt. He is currently signed to the prestigious Blue Note Records in the US and has a busy tourist schedule that keeps him relevant in current jazz practices and discourses.

Shabaka Hutchings is a British-Barbadian saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, celebrated for his boundary-pushing contributions to contemporary jazz. Born in London in 1984 and raised in Barbados, he absorbed both Caribbean and jazz traditions before returning to the UK to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
He leads three visionary ensembles: Sons of Kemet, a politically charged quartet fusing Afro-Caribbean rhythms with brass and percussion; The Comet Is Coming, an electrifying trio blending jazz, psychedelia, and electronic music; and Shabaka and the Ancestors, a South African collective rooted in spiritual jazz.
