Das international renommierte moers festival findet seit 1972 jährlich an Pfingsten statt und wird seit 2005 von der Moers Kultur GmbH veranstaltet. Das Festival hat sich vom reinen Newjazz-Festival über fünf Jahrzehnte immer weiter geöffnet und erweitert; es trug 2025 den Subtitel „Jazzfestival für Musik / Miteinander / Freysinn und: Klangfriede!“ und präsentierte sein Programm zwischen Avantgarde, Alter Musik, zeitgenössischer Improvisation und dem Genre „unklassifizierbar“ vom 6. bis 9. Juni mit mehr als 200 Einzelauftritten von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern aus rund 20 Ländern an vier Festivaltagen. Schwerpunktländer waren Ruanda und China. Weitere Formate, Einrichtungen und Reihen wie z.B. die moers sessions, der improviser in residence (seit 2008), die discussions (seit 2017), wechselnde Jugendprojekte (seit 2018), Workshopangebote oder hybride Formate (@the same time oder die VR moersland, seit 2021) erweitern den Festivalkosmos.

The internationally renowned moers festival has taken place annually at Pentecost since 1972 and has been organized by Moers Kultur GmbH since 2005. Over five decades the festival has continually opened up and expanded beyond its origins as a pure new jazz festival; in 2025 it carried the subtitle “Jazzfestival for Music / Togetherness / Freethought and: Sound Peace!” and presented its program between avant-garde, early music, contemporary improvisation and the genre “unclassifiable” from June 6 to 9 with more than 200 individual performances by artists from around 20 countries across four festival days. Focus countries were Rwanda and China. Additional formats, institutions and series such as the moers sessions, the improviser in residence (since 2008), the discussions (since 2017), rotating youth projects (since 2018), workshop offerings and hybrid formats (@the same time or the VR moersland, since 2021) expand the festival cosmos.

1973 in der Idylle der Niederlausitz gegründet, wurde die jazzwerkstatt Peitz von den Fans liebevoll „Woodstock am Karpfenteich“ genannt. In der DDR ein Fanal des improvisierten Widerstands mit großem Zulauf, wurde es 1982 verboten. Den Geist von Freiheit und die internationale Strahlkraft bewahrt es auch nach seiner Wiederbelebung im Jahr 2011 bis heute. 50 Jahre nach der Gründung übergab Ulli Blobel den Staffelstab an seine Tochter Marie Blobel. Unter dem Motto „Die Kunst der Freiheit – ein Festival zwischen Tradition und Wandel“ stand das grenzenlose Abenteuer Musik im Mittelpunkt der Programmgestaltung. Die 62. Ausgabe lebte vom Aufeinandertreffen der Generationen und bot Raum für spannende Begegnungen und musikalische Experimente, eingebettet in die einzigartige Kulisse rund um das Industriedenkmal am Hüttenwerk Peitz.

Founded in 1973 in the idyllic Lower Lusatia region, the jazzwerkstatt Peitz was affectionately called “Woodstock at the carp pond” by fans. In the GDR, it became a beacon of improvised resistance with large audiences, until it was banned in 1982. After its revival in 2011, it has preserved its spirit of freedom and international appeal to this day. Fifty years after its founding, Ulli Blobel passed the baton to his daughter Marie Blobel. Under the motto “The Art of Freedom – a festival between tradition and change,” the boundless adventure of music stood at the center of the programme. The 62nd edition thrived on encounters between generations and offered space for exciting meetings and musical experiments, embedded in the unique setting surrounding the industrial heritage site at the Hüttenwerk Peitz.

Das noch relativ junge Jazzkollektiv Halle belebt mit Einfallsreichtum und einer überraschenden Vielfalt an musikalischen Veranstaltungen das Kulturleben der Stadt Halle (Saale). Und so erscheint es fast folgerichtig, dass nach wenigen Jahren der Wille entstand, ein Festival zu veranstalten. Vom 18. – 21. September 2025 war es soweit und das erste A-Minor Festival fand statt. Es brachte eine Vielfalt an improvisierter und experimenteller Musik nach Halle und öffnete damit Türen für eine Kultur des Austauschs, der Neugier und der Begegnung. Kooperationen mit Akteuren der lokalen Kulturszene, wie dem WUK Theater Quartier, dem halleschen Dom und dem Puschkino, ermöglichten einen engen Kontakt zur Stadtgesellschaft, der durch eine ebenso experimentierfreudige wie abwechslungsreiche Programmgestaltung mit Künstler*innen-Gesprächen, Filmen, Jam Sessions und Workshops einen nachhaltigen Eindruck auf das kulturelle Miteinander hinterließ.

The relatively young Jazzkollektiv Halle enriches the cultural life of the city of Halle (Saale) with ingenuity and a surprising variety of musical events. It therefore seemed almost logical that after only a few years the desire arose to organize a festival. From September 18–21, 2025, the time had come and the first A-Minor Festival took place. It brought a wide range of improvised and experimental music to Halle and opened doors to a culture of exchange, curiosity, and encounter. Collaborations with actors from the local cultural scene, such as WUK Theater Quartier, the Halle Cathedral and the Puschkino, enabled close contact with the city’s community, which—through an equally experimental and diverse program including artist talks, films, jam sessions and workshops—left a lasting impression on the cultural coexistence.

2025 präsentierte das Jazzfest Berlin 120 herausragende Künstler:innen aus über 20 Ländern in 27 Konzerten, von prägenden Persönlichkeiten der Jazzgeschichte bis hin zu noch unbekannten, innovativen Stimmen. Das Programm steht für musikalische Grenzgänge, Vielstimmigkeit und für die Entwicklung außergewöhnlicher Formate, darunter große Ensembles und interdisziplinäre Projekte. Darüber hinaus versteht sich das Jazzfest Berlin als offener, inklusiver Raum für Austausch, Begegnung und Teilhabe. Mit Diskursformaten, Sessions, Workshops für Kinder und Erwachsene, einem Community Film Lab, einem transkulturellen Ensemble sowie Kooperationen mit zwei Berliner Musikhochschulen, ging das Festival im Rahmen der Jazzfest Community Week in den Stadtteil Moabit und in den Gropius Bau und realisierte im Zusammenschluss mit Initiativen aus der Berliner Zivilgesellschaft ein zusätzliches kostenloses Angebot.

In 2025, Jazzfest Berlin presented 120 outstanding artists from over 20 countries in 27 concerts, ranging from influential figures in jazz history to still-unknown, innovative voices. The program stands for musical boundary-crossing, polyphony, and the development of extraordinary formats, including large ensembles and interdisciplinary projects. In addition, Jazzfest Berlin sees itself as an open, inclusive space for exchange, encounter, and participation. With discourse formats, sessions, workshops for children and adults, a Community Film Lab, a transcultural ensemble, and collaborations with two Berlin music universities, the festival went into the Moabit district and the Gropius Bau as part of the Jazzfest Community Week and, together with initiatives from Berlin civil society, realized an additional free program.
