yonglee & the DOLTANG ist ein in Seoul ansässiges Ensemble unter der Leitung des Pianisten und Komponisten yonglee, das im zeitgenössischen Jazz und verwandten experimentellen Formen arbeitet. Nach der Veröffentlichung des Albums wurde das Ensemble für die Jazzahead! 2024 ausgewählt, trat an bedeutenden europäischen Spielstätten wie dem Bimhuis (Amsterdam) und Ronnie Scott’s (London) auf und verortete seine Arbeit damit im internationalen zeitgenössischen Jazzkontext.

yonglee & the DOLTANG is a Seoul-based ensemble led by pianist and composer yonglee, operating within contemporary jazz and related experimental forms. The group’s work is characterized by a strong compositional framework, detailed ensemble interaction, and the integration of electronic sound and improvisation as structural elements rather than stylistic additions. Their debut album Invisible Worker engages with questions of invisible labor, precarity, and emotional alienation in late-modern society. These themes are articulated through formally coherent compositions and collective improvisation, emphasizing process, tension, and transformation. Following the album’s release, the ensemble was selected for Jazzahead! 2024, performing at major European venues such as Bimhuis (Amsterdam) and Ronnie Scott’s (London), and situating their work within an international contemporary jazz context.
